Overview

This position provides technical knowledge of the security field to SYKES projects, employees and customers to ensure the security, regulatory compliance and contractual obligations of the organization are met. In addition the role encompasses monitoring, reporting and defining appropriate action on alerts, incidents, penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and risk management.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Adheres to SYKES policies on ethics and integrity.
  • Provides knowledge and expertise of the security field that will assist SYKES to meet its security and compliance goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of building relationships with teams and individuals outside of the security and IT domains.
  • Determines, evaluates and communicates risks or threats to SYKES business objectives.
  • Conducts security monitoring, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, forensic analysis, incident response and investigations.
  • Supports and maintains the confidentiality of sensitive company and customer information.
  • Works as a member of a global team but remain productive and with attention to detail while working independently or without supervision.
  • Maintains project/task management prioritization when executing the requests of SYKES leadership and customers.
  • Be aware of and provides recommendations, assessments and communication of business appropriate security and regulatory body requirements and best practice.
  • Engages vendors and third parties providing security services.
  • Maintains certifications and knowledge appropriate to the role.
  • May perform other additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 or more years IT experience with 3+ years in security.
  • GIAC (GSEC,GCIH,GCIA etc)
  • CISSP

Job Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Regulatory body and legal compliance requirements including PCI-DSS, HIPAA, ISO, SOX, SSAE, GLBA and FFIEC.
  • IDS/IPS/SIEM tuning and management.
  • Log analysis with both raw logs and SIEM tools.
  • Systems integrity checking.
  • Vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
  • Industry standard operating systems.
  • Programming proficiency in at least one advanced scripting language (Python, Ruby, Perl, etc.) and an understanding of security best practices in software development is preferred.
  • Penetration testing/ethical hacking.
  • TCP/IP protocol and standards, perimeter security, defense-in-depth implementations and data leak prevention.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, corporate procedures/regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
