This position serves as a member of the Global HR Compliance ("GHRC") team and reports directly to the Vice President, Global HR Compliance and Employment Counsel. The position assists in the implementation and maintenance of company HR compliance policies and programs, assists in directing and implementing the Company's global Standards of Conduct, assists Employment Counsel in the defense of employment-related claims and litigation, responds to all employment-based subpoenas, conducts employment-related audits, maintains compliance of minimum wage increases as well as the notification poster program, manages the Company's litigation hold and document retention programs, works with the Pre-Employment team on background check compliance and manages the background check vendor contract to set up all new packages in accordance with client contracts, and conducts additional tasks to improve efficiencies and support the GHRC team. The position works closely with HR partners, the Legal Department, outside counsel and other professionals.

Required qualifications, skills and experience


* Adheres to SYKES policies on ethics and integrity.

* Assist with management of employment litigation matters, including large class action litigation, including document collection, review and organization, and responding to investigations and/or charges filed with government agencies.

* Is responsible for working with Employment Counsel in drafting and responding to all government agency charges, including EEOC, DOL, and NLRB charges, and handles filing and follow-up of the same. Responds to all subpoenas and business information requests.

* Extracts data from HR systems for review and analysis in preparation for internal and external audits, metrics reporting and compliance program development.

* Responsible for managing e-billing, matter management and analytics in Serengeti ? Legal Tracker system.

* Tracks and maintains compliance of minimum wage increases and works with operations and payroll to ensure notification and compliance.

* Maintains the Company's notification poster program and tracks compliance for all sites and Work at Home.

* Creates, maintains and manages the Company's litigation hold and document retention programs, and works closely with IT for compliance and release of such holds.

* Works with the Pre-Employment team on background check compliance and manages the background check vendor contract to set up all new packages in accordance with client contracts.

* Review and summarize pleadings, discovery, and other legal and business documents.

* Research emerging compliance issues, collect, analyze and track compliance-related data, and prepare resource materials.

* Assists with identifying training needs and gaps and assists in developing, creating and implementing that training.

* Assists in conducting internal reviews and audits of employment-related systems, policies and procedures, identifying possible violations and assisting in mitigating violations, and implementing proactive corrective measures.

* General support for employment litigation and compliance as needed, including administration and management of litigation holds, e-discovery tools and processes.

* Establishes and maintains records of file/document retention schedules, oversees and authorizes document destruction, and ensures that appropriate documents are indexed, archived, and properly stored.

* Support all legal compliance processes, including internal and external legal compliance documentation collection, preparation, review, and organization.

* Assists in the implementation and audit of HR compliance initiatives, including standards of conduct, annual training, performance reviews, data privacy, and other required compliance projects.

* Assists in the development and review process, documentation, and remediation initiatives for SOX compliance requirements.

Desired qualifications, skills and experience


Associate's or equivalent degree in Paralegal Studies and Paralegal Certification required and 3-5 years related experience and/or training required. Previous HR/Employment Law experience preferred.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Experience using business acumen, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to create and maintain collaborative working relationships with senior administrators, business partners and a diverse group of constituents including Global HR Compliance team members, HR colleagues, and leadership, as well as external constituencies, such as outside counsel, vendors, and government agency representatives.

Extensive experience with employment litigation, and at least three years of experience with class action litigation either as an in-house paralegal or a law firm paralegal.

Experience maintaining discretion in recognizing, protecting and adhering to absolute confidentiality of highly sensitive or controversial information

Experience using writing, editing and proofreading skills to produce policy-related documents and documents that summarize issues such as complaints, investigative findings, memoranda of understanding and other reports and documents.

Must be able to effectively plan, organize and manage projects with minimal oversight.

Must possess strong reading comprehension, written and verbal communication skills.

Must be willing to learn and master Company systems and new procedures.

Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information from a variety of sources; independently identify and resolve both legal and business problems in a timely manner.

Ability to prepare basic financial reports, budgets, forecasts and accruals.

Must be able to follow instructions, respond to direction, and commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.

Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote quality.

Accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments.

Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel, PowerPoint, Pacer, Lexis Nexis, and Word, as well as strong internet and web-based software skills. Ability to create and maintain databases including manipulating and extracting data for spreadsheets,and producing compliance-related reports.

Ability to distill results, analysis, and recommendations into written memoranda.

Strong problem solving, decision-making, reporting, communication and time management skills.

Must be able to multi-task, take initiative and work well independently
